Sibley File Too Large

Post by syc »

I went to upload Puccini La Fanciulla del West, but the file size is way too large. Is there a way to split it/compress it? Thanks!

I had a look. There are 348 pages, color, low resolution. If you convert each page to monocrome without resampling it and crop the margins the result will have a size of about 20 kB/page. Then you can split the three acts to avoid too big a size.

It's possible to use the tools in testing right now to upload files up to 4GB: https://imslp.org/tools/static/demo/ts.html

We already have it with a much better scan https://imslp.org/wiki/La_fanciulla_del ... C_Giacomo)
(vocal score, Ricordi)

Please note that Sibley's copy that was posted to URResearch includes additions and corrections in the hand of the composer; the page preceding first page of score also has an inscription: Alla cara famiglia // Aliverti // Ricordo affettuoso // di // Carlo Carignani // Brunate 6 Luglio 911 [i.e.1911]. That is why we did this scan in full color.

Then perhaps add a note on the present imslp page, with a link to the Sibley page, for those interested by these additions and corrections.
